Good grief it seems like a lifetime has passed since my last post! Maybe because it has… Today I want to dive into my latest obsessions. My taste is always changing and right now I’m digging a lot of the boho tribal stuff. I’m also convinced that emerald green is going to EXPLODE! I’ve had my eye on it for quite some time and it makes me want to completely switch up my colors. But seriously how cool is this rug?! (Source)
I’m also head over heels for this kitchen. I don’t really think it’s my style but I’m still in love with it. Isn’t it funny how we talk about home stlyes like we talk about fashion? I always liken it to loving a trend but knowing you just couldn’t pull it off. Like right now I’m totally digging leather leggings but let’s be honest I would probably look ridiculous in them. I might still give it a go though! I saw Target had some. 😉 (Source)
Okay again with the green but c’mon it’s soooo cool. I just love it. I’m also loving the dark wall colors everywhere! (Source)
This was a super cool combo I came across. The look of the cabinets with the grey backsplash! Can you say genius?! I just think its a great way to work with a darker wood color and make it more modern and updated. All the details are wonderful. Those little knobs! Oh, man. (Source)
While I loved the previous pic, my heart will always be with white kitchens. I love the patterns in this one. Stunning! (Source)
I know not everyone will love these photos like I do but I think it’s cool to share or over-share your thoughts on different home trends and styles. What I like today, I might hate tomorrow. Just kidding, I really love this stuff but it’s cool to see things that are different and not necessarily popular yet… especially where I live! Phoenix is so behind.
Have you guys seen World Market’s new furniture? It’s pretty much amazeballs and it totally makes me want to re-do my whole house. Doing so would be assanine considering we are finally finishing up with things, but hey a girl can dream. This is why things like Pinterest were created, am I right?! Back to the topic at hand, this Industrial cart had me swooning in the store.
It’s on sale for $239.99 and it makes me want to do something like this in my house. (Click on pic for Source)
I also love this foyer table. The finish is beautiful and it’s on sale for $249.99.
I could see it in an entry way like this table below. The basket for shoes is genius! (Click on pic for source)
This chair totally reminds me of John & Sherry’s house from Young House Love. And for $269.99 bones it could be yours. I could see this in a bedroom or accent chair for the living room. Great pop of color.
You might be wondering what we brought home with us? Well I snagged 2 of theses accent tables that we will be using as nightstands. I was a little unsure of whether they would go with everything else in the room but after our bed was delivered I think they fit quite nicely. I’m all about mixing and matching different wood tones and switching up furniture sets. I think it makes things interesting and exciting as long as they have a cohesive flow.
I can’t wait to share our bedroom and bathroom progress. I’m just needing to accessorize and figure out window treatments and then things will be wrapped up!
I’ve been obsessed with decorating since I was a kid. I remember doing little crafty things to improve my room like using thumb tacks to make curtains or rummaging through our old bedding to create a fresh look. I even remember fixing up a “tea” table every week using a bunch of old table clothes and napkins from my mom’s grandma. I’d cut fresh flowers from the yard, grab candle holders from around the house, and create custom art for a backdrop. I loved it. Fast forward many years later and I still love it. Today I’m going to share a few people who I have watched though the years that never cease to amaze me with their skills.
First up is probably my favorite designer, hands down! I feel like her talent with fabrics, colors, and layouts is impeccable. I’m drawn to her organized approach and timeless taste. So who is it? None other than Sarah Richardson. I wish I was her. She even makes me want to be from Canada. And her sidekick Tommy is a total riot. (Click on pic for sources)
Here are some of my favorite designs. The first two pictures are from her cottage house which was probably one of my favorite shows. I love the color scheme in the dining/kitchen area.
I also recently came across this master bedroom she did which looks so elegant and yet comfy at the same time. And that light fixture?! Die.
My second Go-to girl is Jillian Harris. Ya know from the Bachelorette? Oh you don’t watch that. Yeah me neither…
She’s one of those girls who seems to have it all. Great job as an interior designer, adorable looks, amazing fashion sense, and from the looks of her blog a fun social life! I think she is just an overall inspiring person. Oh and again she is from Canada. I’m sensing a theme here…
Here are some of her rooms that make me melt!
Last up we have my girl Sabrina Soto. I love how calm and collected she seems at all times. She rarely gets stressed out and has this organized way of doing things that makes designing seem easy and fun.
This entry way sums up her design taste. I love how collected and yet effortless everything feels.
Anyone else have inspiring designers that keep them going?
So I’ve decided to order pillows from etsy for the following reasons:
1. I own a sewing machine but don’t even know how it works, therefore I can’t sew it myself.
2. I cannot find a single pillow I like at any store that sells pillows. (that won’t break the bank)
3. I feel like buying pillows from etsy are like buying somewhat custom pillows.
Here are a few pillows I’m trying to decide between! Love the mint color in this pillow… The geometric pattern in thisAnd the price on these, only 35 $ for 2 18 x 18 pillow covers.
And last but not least, who doesn’t love a chevron pillow!
Okay so no progress pics yet… sadly finishing touches take much longer than expected. In the meantime I will share my favorite, most worth-while purchase thus far. I bet your thinking its probably a piece of furniture or pretty pillow or something? Wrong. I am actually head over heels in LOVE our faucet (the one I wrote about here). Not because of its beauty or elegant shape, but because it is SPOT RESISTANT! If you do not have a spot resistant faucet I strongly urge you to get one. Basically imagine never having water spots on your faucet, just thinking about it makes me giddy. One less thing to clean makes me one happy girl.
And for those of you wondering, here is the link to Home Depot, where we purchased it.
I feel like I’ve hit a bit of a slump in my decorating adventures. It seems I have all these ideas but am too scared to pull the trigger on any of them. Well slump no more! I recently came across this BEAU-tiful kitchen that has window-cabinets! How clever is that?! No, I’m not going to knock out walls to create window cabinets(hubby already informed me this would be too expensive) but I love the overall feel of the kitchen. It’s such an effortless design full of different textures and colors.
Sigh. From the rustic lighting to the pretty patterned chair in the corner, everything just fits so perfectly together! This is what I needed to see to get a little inspiration. Finished kitchen here I come!
