Finished Flooring!

So remember this little post where I told you all about my flooring and how we would be finished soon. Well fast forward a month and a half later and yes, we are finally donzo! It’s been a dirty, long, exhausting task but we are now able to walk on our brand spankin’ new floors (without getting junk all over our feet).

If you missed my previous post, we decided on a hand-scraped porcelain tile that replicates real hardwood.

Here are some progress pics… there was a lot of mess.

A lot of stained hands (this pic doesn’t do them justice).

And a lot of sponging!

But all that work produced this:

The grout turned out much lighter than the color swatch but we are perfectly fine with it. We think the contrast of the light and dark looks sick ( in the words of my hubby). Our next project will be baseboards which will be the icing on the cake! 🙂

I happened upon your blog while searching for tile that looks like hand scraped wood. Your floor looks so good! Do you remember what tile you used… who the manufacturer is?

    • Thanks, it took us forever to find it. We got it at a discount flooring place called Floor and Decor, the brand on the box is Exotica and the color is Walnut. Hope this helps, happy shopping! 🙂

P.S. Good choice to get tile that replicates wood. It is so durable and water friendly! We couldn’t be happier.

  2. My husband and I are currently tiling our 2,000+ sq ft house and we are using the exact same tile (also from Floor & Decor in Phoenix!) Do you remember what color grout you chose?

Does the floor look like the darker color or the lighter one with the dog ? We were looking at the exotica espresso but it seemed dark in the store. Next choice was yours …. Do you like it or would you go a little darker?

    • It comes off darker in person but there is different wood tones throughout. It is a great color, you won’t be disappointed if it’s something you are debating!

    • I personally wouldn’t for my own home but it depends on what style you want your house to be and how big it is. If you have a big open floor plan I think you could easily go darker but anything darker in my own house would make it look too small. I also think a darker color would look great if you were shooting for a more modern look.
